MEMBERSHIP & PRICING
How much does The Strength Equation membership cost?
Founding rates are $65 biweekly for Base and $75 biweekly for Elite. Standard pricing (after founding spots fill) is $75 (Base) and $95 (Elite) biweekly. Founding rates are limited to the first 1,000 members and lock at signup for the life of your membership. Claim a founding spot →
What's included in a membership?
Every tier includes: full training floor, full spa & recovery (cold plunge, Finnish sauna, Frost Locker, massage rooms), a personalized program, on-floor coaching access from certified coaches during peak hours, posing room, and retail/café area. Group classes (in the studio space) and dedicated 1-on-1 personal training sessions are available as paid add-ons — separate from your membership.
What's the difference between Base and Elite?
Both tiers have identical access to the training floor, spa, recovery, programming, and coaching. Elite adds a daily guest pass and a 10% retail discount. That's the only difference.
How long is the membership contract?
Month-to-month, no long-term contract. Cancel anytime with 30 days notice. Founding rate stays locked for life as long as the membership stays active.
Are there any initiation or annual fees?
No initiation fee for founding members. A $70 annual maintenance fee applies to all memberships. Your founding biweekly rate is protected from annual increases for life.
When do I have to start paying?
No payment at signup. No payment while the facility is being built. Payment begins as we approach opening in Q1 2027. Founding members get clear notice and a payment timeline before doors open.
COACHING & PROGRAMMING
Is coaching included with the membership?
A personalized program and on-floor coaching access from certified coaches are included with every membership tier. Dedicated 1-on-1 personal training sessions, where a coach is with you for the full session, are available per session as an optional add-on. The foundation is included; deeper-touch coaching is pay-as-you-go. Read why →
How much does personal training cost?
Dedicated 1-on-1 sessions are billed per session. Per-session pricing will be confirmed closer to opening. Most members at TSE won't need 1-on-1 sessions for general programming because the program and on-floor coaching access are already included.
Will I get a real program — not just a printed PDF?
Yes. An initial assessment, a personalized program written from that assessment, and program updates on a 6–12 week cadence. Coaches on the floor adjust load, exercise selection, and progression as needed. How we structure progression →
Are group classes included?
No. Group classes run in dedicated studios on the mezzanine and are available as a paid add-on — separate from your membership. Class formats at launch: yoga, HIIT, Zumba, and Reformer-based Pilates — with more added as we onboard additional instructors. Members get a discounted rate: $30 drop-in (yoga/HIIT/Zumba), $35 drop-in for Reformer Pilates, with 5-pack and 10-pack class packages available. Non-members can book at the higher per-class rate. Most members don’t need classes since programming and on-floor coaching are already included with the membership — classes are there for members who specifically want a coached group format.
Do I need to be advanced to join?
No. Beginner, intermediate, or advanced — the program scales to where you start. The facility is built so beginners aren't intimidated and advanced lifters aren't bottlenecked by equipment.
FACILITY & EQUIPMENT
When does The Strength Equation open?
Q1 2027 in Carlsbad, CA. Founding memberships are open now and lock at signup for the life of the membership.
Where is The Strength Equation located?
Carlsbad, California. We serve Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, and broader North County San Diego. Exact street address is shared with founding members closer to opening.
What equipment will TSE have?
Olympic platforms, power racks, plate-loaded specialty machines (hack squat, pendulum squat, belt squat, reverse hyper, leg curl, leg extension, chest press, lat pulldown), full free-weight area with dumbbells to 150+ lb, cardio area, dedicated stretch and warm-up zone, and a full posing room. Equipment selection is final.
What hours will TSE be open?
Final hours announced closer to opening. The plan is early-morning to late-evening hours that match working professionals' schedules — wide enough that no one needs to train at 3am, but not 24/7.
Will TSE have a café?
Yes. The retail and café area is inside the facility and stocks premium supplements, performance gear, and a training-focused café menu (protein-forward, no junk fillers). Elite founding members get 10% retail.
Is there a kid's area or childcare?
No. TSE is a serious training facility for adults — we don't have a kid's area or childcare so the floor stays focused for members training.
SPA & RECOVERY
What recovery amenities are available?
Cold plunge, Finnish sauna, Frost Locker, and massage therapy rooms. All recovery amenities are included with every membership tier — not behind a premium tier or upcharge. Read the contrast therapy protocol →
Is the spa included or a separate fee?
Cold plunge, sauna, Frost Locker — all included from the first session in every tier. Massage therapy specifically is a per-session add-on for hands-on bodywork.
What's the difference between infrared and Finnish sauna?
Different mechanisms, different temperatures, different evidence bases. TSE uses Finnish (traditional) sauna for cardiovascular and longevity research alignment. Full breakdown →
When should I use the cold plunge relative to lifting?
Avoid cold immediately after a hypertrophy-focused lift (it blunts adaptation). Cold is ideal on rest days, before lifting, or 6+ hours after. Sauna and Frost Locker can be used closer to training. Timing details →
FOUNDING MEMBERSHIP
How does the founding rate lock work?
The biweekly rate you sign up at is the rate you keep — for the full life of your membership. No annual increases. When standard pricing kicks in (after the 1,000 founding spots fill), founding members are protected permanently as long as the membership stays active.
How many founding memberships are available?
Limited to 1,000 spots total. Once filled, standard pricing applies. Founding rates lock for life as long as the membership stays active.
Can I tour the facility before it opens?
Yes. Founding members get first access to tour the space before doors open to the public. Invites go out as construction progresses through 2026.
What happens if I cancel and rejoin later?
Founding rates are tied to continuous membership. If you cancel and rejoin later, the rate at that time applies (likely standard, non-founding). Keep the membership active to keep the founding rate.
Can I transfer my founding membership?
No. Founding memberships are non-transferable. The rate-lock is tied to the original signup.
How do I claim a founding spot?
Submit the founding waitlist form on the homepage. You'll be added to the list, get build updates, get first access to tour, and lock your founding rate when payment opens before launch. No payment required at signup. Claim a spot now →
ABOUT TSE
Who is the founder?
Cameron Stott — certified coach and founder. Cameron writes the research-grounded articles on the site, designed the facility, and will be on the floor when doors open. Founder story →
How is TSE different from a regular commercial gym?
Three differences. (1) Programming and on-floor coaching are included with every membership instead of behind a $1,000+/month PT package. (2) Full spa & recovery is included for every tier instead of being a premium-only add-on. (3) Equipment depth — Olympic platforms, plate-loaded specialty machines, the gear a serious lifter actually needs — at a level commercial chains rarely match.
How is TSE different from a luxury gym?
Most luxury gyms optimize for amenities and aesthetics. TSE optimizes for training output. The spa, café, and design are at luxury level, but the training floor is built like a serious lifter's gym — Olympic platforms, plate-loaded specialty equipment, full free-weight depth — not the boutique-cardio + fashion-locker model.
Who is The Strength Equation built for?
Adults who train seriously — recreational lifters who want a real program and real coaching, competitive lifters and athletes, members who value spa & recovery as part of training. Not a beginner-only or budget-tier facility.
Where can I read the science behind your training approach?
The blog has 23+ research-grounded articles covering progressive overload, volume landmarks, training to failure, lengthened partials, creatine, protein, sleep, contrast therapy, and more. Browse the blog →
